The French Lesson
(In English)

Before the '60s and their sexual revolution kicked in, young girls had to struggle for the right to have sex whenever they wanted. Just like in any Latin American country, things were even worse in the very repressed and macho Argentine society of the late '50s. This novel tells the story of Diony Delmare, a fifteen-year-old girl living a conservative life with her parents in the British neighborhood in Buenos Aires, who finds some unexpected help in freeing herself from all the prejudices that surround her. The Frenchman Pierre Ducos, a handsome World War II hero and her new brilliant literature tutor, will teach her all she wanted to know about sex, love, and, of course, French literature.
