Written before Argentina signed on in the globalizing project, this essay anticipates the topic, recalling that there is no way of jumping into the global world without a national historical consciousness and without a perception of the Nation as a historical subject with a destiny of its own. In eighteen chapters, this book explores aspects of the national identity, defines the political actors in Argentine culture, and sets out the problems that will the Argentina of the homeland face-to-face with the Argentina of international dimensions.
